ESOLEN, DR. ANTHONY (19  – )  Resident of Warner since 2017. Writer, social commentator, translator of classical poetry, including Dante and Lucretius, and Writer-in-Residence at Magdalen College of the Liberal Arts. He taught at Furman University and Providence College before transferring to the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts in 2017 and then to Magdalen College in Warner in 2019.  Author, most recently, of Sex and the Unreal City (Ignatius Press, 2020). GIBERSON, DUDLEY (19 – ). Warner resident since 197- . Glassmaker; has written articles for Studio Potter magazine (some included in the book, Studio Potter Book). Also wrote The Joppa Glassworks Catalog of Fact and Knowledge, regarded as a technical sourcebook in the field of glassmaking. Also published in 1998, The Glassmaker’s Companion. A video, for sale on his website,Volcano Dreams, describes how he was inspired to rediscover ancient glass firing techniques.

GUITAR, JEREMY (1948- ). Warner resident since 1980. Illustrates educational material for children, and has co-authored and illustrated two children’s books with his wife, LUCINDA McQUEEN. Illustrated Dawn Seekers by Carol Hamilton.

KELLEY, TRUE ADELAIDE (1946- ). Born Cambridge, MA. Warner resident since 1983. Author and illustrator of many children’s books, including several with her husband, STEVEN LINDBLOM.

LASSONDE, BARBARA MILLS (194-   ) Warner resident since 199-.  Author of  Maple Sugaring in New Hampshire, (Arcadia, 2004).

LINDBLOM, STEVEN WINTHER (1946- ). Born Minneapolis, MN.
Warner Resident since 1983. Author and illustrator of children’s books, including several with his wife, TRUE KELLEY, and publishes scuba diving information.

McQUEEN, LUCINDA (1950- ). Warner resident since 1980.
Has illustrated more than thirty children’s books, including two written with her husband, artist JEREMY GUITAR. Books in our Library catalog

MOE, FREDERICK (19–). Warner Resident since 19– . Writes poetry. Published poetry newsletter, Bone and Flesh Aside, and anthology Color Wheel (2003-2007). Wrote for literary blog, warnerneighbors.blogspot.com (2009- ) a column, Mixed Media, and the Warner column for The InterTown Record, for a few years until 2010. Manages Free Radio Skybird Facebook page.

MORCOM, JOHN (19– ). Warner resident since 1977, family has owned property for three generations. Photographs illustrate Botanical Wreaths by Jane Holliday, several Warner Fall Foliage Festival booklets, N.H. Profiles (including covers), and an article on rare plants (photos taken in Warner) in Whitch Apple Herbal c. 1982.

NEVINS, NEIL (195- —). Warner resident since 198-  . Professor at NHTI , New Hampshire’s Community College until 2020; wrote Warner’s community column for Concord Sunday Monitor (19.. – 2020) with his wife Katharine.

NOON, JACK (1946- ). Sutton resident since 1976. Grandson of DOROTHY HILL (below). Owns camp in Warner. PLETCHER, LARRY (1946- ). Warner Resident since 19–.  Author of “Hiker’s Guide to New Hampshire” (Falcon, 1995), Hiking Vermont (1998), Roughing it easy in New England (1998), It happened in Massachusetts (2000), Massachusetts Disasters (2006). Working on a second edition of Hiker’s Guide to N.H. Is proprietor of The Vegetable Ranch organic farm.

SABIN, PETER (1937- ). Warner resident since 1971. A potter, (member of N.H. League of Craftsmen), was editor and contributing writer and illustrator for Studio Potter magazine, 1971-81. Also Studio Potter Book, based on the magazine.

SAUNDERS, JOAN.  Warner resident since 1998. Community news correspondent, Concord Monitor (1997-) and Argus Champion (1998-2007).

SHEA, FIONN (199-  ) Warner resident since 199-. Written and recorded commentaries for NHPR radio. An essay and a poem published in TransVersing (2018).

SHEA, LOIS. (195-  ). Warner resident since 19–. Writer for the Boston Globe’s N.H. Sunday Edition, and commentaries on NHPR radio station.

SULLIVAN, LARRY (Lawrence J.). (1946-   ). Has lived in Warner since 199- with his wife, artist Mimi Wiggin. History researcher and author of several works and some presentations, including  Nineteenth Century Writers of Warner, New Hampshire. (2010); Patents and Patent Holders Associated with the Town of Warner, New Hampshire (2010); Nineteeenth Century Libraries of Warner, New Hampshire (2011, 2012); A Little book of poems of old Warner and Mount Kearsarge, New Hampshire (2012); Educators & agitators: selected works of 19th century women writers from a small New Hampshire town (2013); and Mount Kearsarge: history, stories, legends and folktales (2015).

WARNER’S NEW PAPER (1998-2008 ). Frequent contributors included:

BROFOS, FREDERICK A. (1927-2008). Born in London, England. Lived in Norway 1927 -1946, United States since 1946. Warner resident 1961-2008. Wrote numerous articles on philately and postal history, including some in Norwegian. Wrote parts of Warner, N.H. 1880-1974 ed. by Carl Malmberg.

BURDICK, LINDA BETTS. Co-Author, A New Hampshire History Curriculum (1998). Editor of Kearsarge Regional Middle School writing collection, Cougars Create!(1998). (Moved away 2020)

CARBONE, RAY (1952- ) NH Resident since 1990 (Chester, Derry, Lakes district, Laconia); Warner resident March 2015 – March 2021. Moved to Canterbury. Writer/Editor/Producer – Author of Legendary Locals of NH’s Lakes Region (Arcadia Press, 2015); Something Worthy To Be Remembered: 100 Years of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC, 2011); The Lakes Region of New Hampshire : Four seasons, Countless Memories (Carbone Productions, LLC, 2009). A longtime journalist with the Laconia Citizen, Foster’s Sunday Citizen and Laconia Daily Sun, his work has also appeared on a variety of media platforms including the Boston Globe/Boston.com, National Public Radio, New Hampshire magazine, New Hampshire Business Review, Cape Cod Times, KQED-FM (San Francisco Public Radio) and WMVY-FM, Martha’s Vineyard, MA. CARROLL, REBECCA. Grew up in Warner. Author of I Know What the Red Clay Looks Like, also Swing Low: Black Men Writing, Sugar in the Raw, and Surviving the white gaze: a memoir (2021). Currently resides in New York.

EMERSON, MARTHA MAE (1946- ). N.H. resident since first grade (Concord), Sutton resident 1978-2013, then Concord, NH. Photographer and writer, photographs illustrate Dangler by Charlie Gaine (Bradford resident), and numerous articles in magazines ranging from Woman’s Day to Country Journal. FOULIARD, PAUL (19__ – ). Warner resident in the 1990s. Writes for magazines, and author of a mystery, Waltz with the Devil (Mayhaven, 1993).

FRIEL, ARTHUR O. (1886-1959). Author of adventure fiction, including King, of Kearsarge,  which was set in Warner.  Was a summer visitor to Warner. Attended school in Manchester, NH.

HAMILTON, MARGARET. Died 2008. Wrote occasional articles for magazines, such as Natural Health (1999).

HILL, DOROTHY (1893-1987). Summered in Sutton, retired to Warner. Author of “Abraham, His Heritage and Ours” (Beacon Press, 1957), and “Power of a Goal”.

HOLLIDAY, JANE BASSETT (1940 – 2015). Warner resident in the 1970’s – 1980’s and a NH State Rep. Co-author of Botanical Wreaths : a guide to collecting, preserving and designing with natural materials. Moved to Florida, then North Carolina.

HUNT, EVERETT C. (1928- ).  Warner resident from 198- to 2014. Author of Marine Engineering Economics and Cost Analysis (1995), and editor in chief of Modern Marine Engineer’s Manual (2 vols, 1999-2002).

KUMIN, MAXINE WINOKUR (1925-2014 ). Born Philadelphia, PA.
Resident of Warner 19– to 2014 . Poet Laureate of N.H. in 1989, Pulitzer Prize winner for poetry. Published numerous collections of poetry and has also written children’s books, essay collections, novels, and numerous magazine articles.

LADD, PAUL R. (189- to 1987) Summer resident, 1940?-1987. Author of Early American Fireplaces (1977) and occasional articles in N.H. Troubadour.

LADD, PAUL R. Jr. (1919-1998). Summer visitor and land-owner. Translated, compiled and edited collections of choral music.

LANDSMAN, MARGARET (1955-      ). Warner resident 1984-91.
Radio journalist for WEVO NH Public Radio, wrote for The Spectator (1991).

LEADBEATER, ELIZA (19__- ). Warner Resident until 1999.
Author of “Spinning and Spinning Wheels” and other books.

McALEVEY, JOHN (19 – ). Had woodworking shop in Warner until 1994. Member of NH League of craftsmen. Published articles in Fine Woodworking.

MARIA, FRANK (1913-2000). Warner resident 1975 – 2000. Writer and speaker about Middle East issues, industrial management practices, and other human relations topics. The Library meeting room bears his name, as a major donor-supporter of the building fund.

MARION, DAWN (19-  ). Warner Resident in the 1990’s. Returned to Center Ossippee. Author and illustrator of “Legendary Cooks: Five Generations of N.H. Cooks”

MIMNAUGH, EDITH (1921- ). Warner resident 1976-198- . Moved to New Hampton, NH. Author of 1979 booklet The Missing Map of Warner, about the map of original grantees of Warner, which she researched, several short stories and articles in magazines, and a novel, The House on Blackberry Lane (Peter Randall, 1990).

MORRISON, ROY (1946- ). Born New York City. Resident of N.H.since 1978. Warner resident 1986-2008, later moved to New London (Georges Mills) then Webster (2010), then Brookline MA. Sustainability Director at SNHU, Manchester NH.   Author of We Build the Road As We Travel: The Mondragon Cooperative Social System (New Society Pub., 1991), and Ecological Democracy (South End Press, 1995). Also writes articles on economics and social change, Tax pollution, not income : a new prosperity in an ecological age (2003), Eco civilization 2140 : a twenty-second-century history and survivor’s journal (2006), and Markets, democracy & survival : how to be prosperous without being self-destructive (2007), and poetry (The Loggers of Warner).

MOYER, JUDITH (19 – ). Photographer & Historian. Edited script and illustrated with her photographs, Warner Women’s Oral History Project dramatization, and exhibit, “It Had To Be Done So I Did It“. Principle author of A New Hampshire History Curriculum (1998), and director /producer of video Number, Please! about independent telephone companies.

NICHOLS, HENRY (HANK) JR. (1941- ). N.H. resident since 1954. Moved from Concord to Sutton in 1978. Reporter, editor and photographer, Concord Monitor, 1967; N.H. Times 1974-81; Boston Globe.

O’BRIAN, CATHERINE. (19– ). Warner resident in the 1990’s, later moved to Sutton N.H.
Poet: has been published in several journals and a Chapbook of N.H. poets.

SEYMOUR, J.E. (Joyleen Garrity Seymour). (1962- ). Warner resident, 1982-1993. Worked at the library in 1994. Now in Brentwood NH. Crime fiction writer with more than 20 short stories published in various anthologies and online. TOMAJCZYK, S. F. (Stephen). (19 – ). Warner resident 1989-90 (Waldron Hill Road). Now resides in Loudon. Author of a dozen nonfiction books including Eyes on the Gold, Children’s Writers Marketplace and three books about Counterterrorism including Bomb Squad! TRUE, BARBARA (1918-1996). Born Newburyport, MA. Lived in Henniker, NH 1983- 85. Sutton since 1985. Wrote and edited for magazines in the Chicago and Boston areas. Also wrote poetry, published in magazines such as Echoes .

VAN VALEY, BARBERIE “BUNNY” HARMER (1925- ). Warner resident 1971- 2000?. Has written a wide variety of publicity and educational materials, including puppet show scripts for children’s shows.

VIOLETTE, ALDERIC O. “DICK”.  (19– -2014 ). Author of Merrimack County

WATERS, HERBERT (1904-1996). Warner resident in the 30’s and 40’s. Woodcut artist and printer. Wood engravings illustrating New England Year by Muriel Follett (1938, 1988) are based on Warner and Sutton people and scenes. Later lived in in Campton, NH.  His widow Bertha donated a wood cut print of a rooster that is on display in the Library.
